CHILDREN IN PLACEMENT'S YOUTH SPONSOR PROGRAM...

is designed to support at-risk adolescents (13-24) involved in the child welfare or juvenile justice system who have experienced multiple placements, have never had a permanent home, or have come to an age in their lives where adoption is less likely. Many are close to aging out of the welfare system and will be on their own soon as adults.

Our Youth Sponsor volunteers,

  • form a 1:1 relationship with their assigned teen.
  • establish SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Based) goals.
  • promote the importance of education and basic life skills.
  • ensure health & well-being needs are being met.
  • reinforce the importance of responsibility, and accountability, for one’s behavior,
  • make connections with necessary community resources.
  • continuously act as a positive role model and be a source of support, guidance, and companionship.

Youth Sponsors play a critical role in providing the practical tools necessary for these at-risk youths to navigate and transition successfully into adulthood, despite their difficult, and in many cases traumatic past.
