Empowerment

Connecticut Youth Alliance (CYA), the empowerment program of Children In Placement, is a logical outgrowth of the mission to serve the best interest of the child throughout the placement process… and beyond.

CYA offers teen-age foster youth and their at-risk peers a constructive program that inspires them to continue schooling, teaches them marketable skills and provides opportunities for positive growth and development among peers with similar backgrounds.  Beyond the mission of empowering youth is the desire to use this effort to educate the general public and policy makers about the unique needs of foster youth and to increase awareness of their concerns.

As a result of their CYA experience, CYA youth are learning to speak eloquently, professionally, and with such wisdom that policymakers and social workers are listening and seeking their guidance.
